This month’s sensory dough is cloud dough. I found a recipe for chocolate cloud dough at Inspiration Laboratories website. Cloud dough is very simple to make. I thought it would be fun to do chocolate as a Valentine theme for February.
The basic recipe for cloud dough uses flour and an oil, usually baby oil is called for. I thought it would be more baby friendly to try a substitute that was a little more edible.
Here’s what I did:
- 1 3/4c flour
- 1/4c cocoa powder
- 1/4c vegetable oil
We did add some more oil for a more crumbly texture. They used the addition for the lava in their volcanoes!
The kids really liked that this was very much like wet sand. Since they haven’t gotten a lot of sandbox time, with all of our snow, this was a nice indoor activity. For the most part they kept it in the platters I gave them. What got on the table and the floor cleaned up surprisingly well!
I am linking up again for 12 Months of Sensory Dough at Lemon Lime Adventures. Check out everyone else’s creative ways to use sensory dough!
that looks interesting indeed. Haven’t heard of it before.
That’s so different! I’m pinning it. 🙂
