Homemade floam

I was happy to see these little white styrofoam beads at the dollar store at Christmas time. We used them this week to make our own homemade floam. It was more like “gak” with beads, but the kids are having a great time!

We mixed 2 teaspoons of borax with 1/2 cup warm water until it was dissolved. In a separate bowl we mixed 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup white glue. To this mixture we added a few drops of food coloring.

We added the foam beads to the glue mixture. We slowly added the borax mixture until we achieved our desired consistency. We wanted it to hold together but not be too slimy.
