Allie is a senior this year and I can’t believe it! She was the baby of the family for a long time! It’s a little unbelievable for me, but for her it’s very busy and exciting! She has so many classes she wants to take and many she needs to take. She’s got a very busy schedule this year between school, scouts and friends. Allie had the opportunity to take Middlebury French I last year, but only completed the half of the course. We were very happy that this review came up again and she could complete the class.
Allie is working through the second semester of Middlebury Interactive Languages‘ High School French I. She has really enjoyed using this program. She had tried others in the past, but much prefers Middlebury to anything else she has used.
Middlebury Interactive Languages has a lot of great language choices to offer for elementary, middle and high school students:
The course will immerse your student into the language and culture they are studying. No more boring lectures and impractical exercises. The lessons are interesting, you speak back into the microphone to hear how your speech compares to the lesson and you learn practical things about the cultures you are learning the language from. There are formal lessons of reading and writing, vocabulary and grammar. This self guided interactive study includes all of the necessary work, but in an interesting way. Allie found she had the option to print out parts of her lesson, this helped her as did note taking. She prefers to have books and notes as opposed to an online class. This was a good compromise for her. She used the online lesson, but still had physical papers in front of her to practice and take notes.
Allie was able to compare the updated curriculum with what she used last year and was super excited to find that the few things that frustrated her were no longer a problem. One of those things was she could not stop in the middle of a lesson and go back to where she was. She had to be very careful to not have any interruptions (not too easy around here) or she would not be able to go back to that lesson at all. This is not the case now. She can start and stop when needed and pick up where she left off.
High School French I (Grades 9-12) is $119 per 18 week semester without teacher support and $294 per semester with teacher support. Your access is for one year. Allie did great without teacher support. She found the program easy to navigate and was able to keep up with it on her own. I think this is a great program and I’ll be able to confidently put this course on her High School transcript.
