Birth of Jesus (Grapevine Studies) Review

Here we are at the end of another TOS Review Crew year.  I hope to be returning and sharing more curriculum with my readers next year.  I was able to review a really neat curriculum that will definitely be fun to repeat during the upcoming holiday season.  We received a digital download of The Birth of Jesus: Multi Level from Grapevine Studies. This included the student book (ages 7+), teacher book and traceable for ages 3-6.

I had never heard of Grapevine Studies before, so I was curious to see what they had to offer.  We LOVED it!!!  This fun curriculum has your students draw stick figures as they learn through the Bible. We used the multi level curriculum so everyone could join it.  I was pleasantly surprised how much all of them liked it!  David (grade 4) and Evie (PreK) were the ones who used it most.  This chart below gives you can overview of what levels work best with what ages.

We studied the Birth of Jesus.  I think the timing is perfect with Christmas coming soon.  This curriculum offers 2 choices for schedules: once a week for 5 weeks or 24 daily lessons.  We chose to use this once a week and did longer lessons.  I think we will repeat it again with the daily lessons as we prepare for Christmas.  I was so pleased how much detail there is in this curriculum.  Even Evie can tell you what order things happened in the story!

I enjoyed the ease of this curriculum.  The teacher guide was very easy to use and extremely helpful.  Everything you need to know and say is right there.  There is very little prep work that needs to be done ahead of time.  The student book is set up just like the teacher’s guide so there is no fumbling through lots of pages to find out what matches.  This was easy and fun for the teacher and the kids got so much out of it.

We have never done a Bible study like this before.  I think this is a great way for visual learners of all ages to learn.  There was no pressure to draw perfect pictures and no panic to write just the right things.  The kids just drew simple stick figures to represent what was happening in the story and it stuck!!  This is a great resource for me since it’s digital and I use it over and over again with my kids through the years.  I am looking forward to adding more products from Grapevine Studies to our digital library.
