We received Wizzy Gizmo‘s “Book One: Who Created Everything?” to read and review. I read this with David (8 years old) for a fun summer book. I had no idea the great Bible knowledge he would get from this quirky titled book. This book is recommended for ages 4-12. It is $12.99.
We read this 57 page, soft cover, book chapter by chapter over 7 days. It’s a very cute book that goes very deep into the Creation story. The story is based in a town called Sunnyville where Wizzy Gizmo is the Professor of Science and Technology at Sunnyville University. He is a scientist and inventor. He invented Gizmovision. A device that can make any book come to life. Wizzy has some very interesting friends. Quacky a robotic duck, Pepe a talking dog and a few kids, Summer, Thomas, Eli and Olive. He and his friends could go back in time anywhere that they wanted. They choose to go all the way back to Creation. They witness each day as God makes the light and the earth, the sky, land, oceans and plants, the sun, the moon, the stars and space, water creatures and birds, land animals and Adam and Eve.
This book covers all of Genesis 1. Vocabulary words are highlighted to introduce new words. There is a glossary in the back. It introduces new words like firmament and auspicious. Also in the back of the book there are review questions.
Almost all of Genesis 1 is covered verse by verse. They other Scripture such as Psalm 19: 1,2 “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge”. Isaiah 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made” and Psalm 119:18 “Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.”
I really liked this book. It was a cute premise to teach a Bible story. David wanted to keep reading to see what happened next. My favorite thing was how the book covered much deeper subjects than just the creation story you always see in kids books. It talked about the earth not having any sin at this time because the fall of man had not happened yet. It also talks about the Trinity as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and how all 3 as 1 was there for Creation.
Since David is my busy one, I would have liked to have had more pictures on the pages. He got quite wiggly waiting for a page with pictures. He was still listening as he didn’t want to miss anything. It’s a very small compliant. It definitely won’t keep me away from getting the next book in the series called “In His Image”, which covers Genesis 2.
